I've just purchased a new belt for my Farmall Cub with Woods belly mower. My question? How tight or how much tension should I put on new belt? Yes, old belt would slipping off of shive because old belt was streached and worn very badly before it broke. Thanks Cajune James

Don't know about the Cub, but I used to have a 140 with Woods mower and the answer on it is as tight as you can get it. If the belt is loose, it's likely to turn over because of all the twists in those belts. The belt is so long, that it's real difficult to get it too tight. I used to use a hydraulic jack to push down and hold the pulleys in the slots on my 140 while I tighten the bolts.
