I was looking at a 1954 MTA and the hydralic system looked like plumbers nightmare of 1/2 inch pipe. The owner says it is factory original. Can this be true? As usual thanks in advance.

You should have hoses to the valves and cylinders (not ridgid pipe)

Does it look something like this? Punch below for a "factory" Super M live hydraulic with an added Charlynn power steering flow divider valve.

Is it difficult to get the live hydraulic set up to a Super M instead of the "lift-all" that is already on? You have to get a live pump for up by the distributor, right? Where can a person get them things, and cost is ??
Thanks..... ...

Unless you can find the M&W pump it can get expensive and labor intensive. To mount the IH pump from a Super M through 450 you need to change the timing cover and cam gear. Expect to spend $500 on it.

A better idea is to weld another pulley on the crankshaft and mount a pump to the side of the tractor. It is cheaper.

Steven, could you explain a bit on how you would add a pulley? Are you welding it to the front of the existing pulley? Is there still room to squeeze belts on? Seems awful tight in there!

Here are some pics of a cogged drive pulley on an H. It can be done. Local machine shop has an H with a loader on it with a chain drive pump driven from the crankshaft - I think it is a #50 chain.

Without the two way hydralic valve, you should have two hoses, one presure and the other one supplies the oil to the pump.
