Based on the rear end it looks lots more like a Deere than a New Idea! They are the only ones I know that used an auger instead of paddles to spread.

Hey, if you buy that spreader on eBay for 50 bucks, you drive down or over to RI and pick it up, you might have a total of 100 bucks invested in it between gas, time of travel, and purchase. I believe it is an old McCormick No. 20, so I would go ahead and bid. For 5.00 you can't go wrong, man, even if it needs a little TLC. Good luck.

Attached a link to a spreader that is on ebay, looks like it may sell cheap. On one has bidded on it as of this time, and the seller did not set any reserve on it.

Problem is that it is located in the Providence, RI area.

May or may not be what you are looking for.

We bought an Oliver Superior spreader for our 3 horses this past fall for $100. It's old, ground driven, and works like a new one. The guy that had it oiled the bed every year. The chains and sprokets all look like new. Just figured I'd tell you that you can get an old cheap spreader that will work just like new. Good luck.
