Saw the question below about the A fan hub and it got to to thinking about my Super C. It has a grease zerk on it and I've just been pumping a little grease in now and then. Do you suppose someone lost the original plug and a zerk just happened to fit? Sounds like grease isn't going to keep it lubed, although it's still tight and has no noise.

Does your Super C have a water pump? If so, just pump a little grease in that zerk when you lube the chassis. Don't overgrease that zerk, though. If no water pump, it should use oil.

Are you saying IH went to a grease zerk on the fan pulley the last couple years of production? This is a 1952. It does have a water pump and thermostat. The pulley looks original and doesn't have ball bearings in it. I had it off to replace both belts a few months ago.

My Super C is a 53 and uses oil in the hub.

I think someone may have taken out the oil plug and put in a zerk. Also, maybe someone replaced the hub with an aftermarket. I have seen new ones made with ball bearings, but did not note if they had a zerk or not.
