I want to convert my H to 12 volt and need to know if there is a 12 volt alternator and brackets kit available. One that you don't have to cut or bend the hood. Also the price for it. I've seen one wire alternators you can use, but I think the diameter is too big to fit under the hood. Any info will be appreciated.

Just wanted to thank Woody Diehl for the info on the kit. I tried to E-mail you but it wouldn't
go through at that address. I E-mailed Hargett's
Farm Shop to get some more information .
Thanks again.

I just bought a 10S1 Alternator to put on my tractor. I decided to buy a rebuilt one from a local auto parts store. They did not know what I wanted exactly, so I told them to give me an alternator for a 1978 Chevrolet. It was Perfect, and for only $31.00.

Charles, To convert to 12 volts is not hard or expensive, depending on your situation with the local salvage yard. We normaly use the delco 10SI alternator, yes it looks to big to fit under the hood but it will and still have a tight belt. In fact use the belt that is used for the generator, also use the same lower bracket the top adjuster bracket we use one off from some old car or whatever and put a arch in it to fit over the alt. There are also 12 volt bulbs aviable for the lights. We like to find a 12 volt coil with built in resistor (used of course) All together you should be able to do the whole job for less than $50 in used parts. Here are a couple of web sights to help >Link
