W6 help, please

I took my W6 for a little spin today after doing some charging system work. At full throttle in 4th. gear, it ran fine for a minute, then started missing, like one plug wire had come off. I went back to the shop, and idled it down, then reved it up again. Same thing, and the exhaust temp went way up. I could feel the temp increase on my face, and the paint started burning off the muffler. I shut it off, and started it back up, and it seemed to run better. I put new points and condenser in the mag, new cap and rotor, wires, and Autolite 3116's. I just rebuilt the carb completely, and soaked it overnight in carb soup. Iv'e got good compression, 90 lbs. in all 4 cylinders, distillate engine. I'm thinking maybe I got a small piece of dirt in the main needle seat? I've got good gas flow, I checked that as soon as it started acting up. I haven't pulled the plugs and checked them yet, maybe one got fouled somehow? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary

A chip of engine deposit probably got under a valve.
I would check the compression again and see if one is a bit down. If it is, pull the valve cover and find the one on that cyl (exhaust) that is out of spec wide on adjustment. I would tap the rocker with a hammer several times to try to dislodge the junk if it is wide. )cold spec is .020".
If the compression is OK, It may have cleared itself. JimN
