Look up the list a ways for "Anti-Foulers on my M." You are doing the same thing.

All you gents are correct. I recommend you go to the new AC C86 spark plug which replaces the C83. I found them at NAPA at $1.60 each or so.

If you are a Champion lover, then I recommend the D-21. Any colder and the Champs seem to not want to fire. I have a whole box of worthless 15's. Learned my lesson.

RB,
I had the same problem with my M on Champion D-15 plugs. Fixed it by adjusting the carb correctly (it was way too rich) and then switched to D-21 plugs. Problem solved.

Phil

Pulling the wire partially off causes a voltage increase, thus a hotter spark at the plug which is likely fouled under normal conditions. Look at a different plug or correcting the condition causing the fouling.

I agree with Bob. I had the same thing happen to me with a 1960 Chev. 283. I think your plugs maybe too cold of a heat range and then they tend to "carbon" up. For some reason, when you pull the wires off part way, it seems to get a hotter spark??

It does make hotter spark. Champion even makes
a plug for small engines with an internal gap to
boost spark. I had a tractor that always fouled
1 plug so I took a blown glass fuse and put it
inline between the wire and the plug. That kept
it from fouling.

Your plugs are probably partially fouled due to rich carb or oil burning. Try switching to a hotter set of plugs.
