I have a 1951 Super-C . . and recently removed the manifold in order to paint it (along with every other part ;-) A previous owner had replaced one of the stud bolts with a regular bolt . . but it's size is smaller and it fits loosely . . . I would like to replace it with the proper stud bolt . . but am hesitant in removing the others to find out the size.
So I am looking for the stud size and thread(s)required.
Thanks.

gt The stud bolts are 5/16-18 on one end and 5/16-24 on the other end.Should be able to buy at any good auto parts store. I broke a couple of these studs off when I changed my manifold. These things can be a bear to get out of the head when broken off, had to remove head after trying to drill broken studs then use an easy out, which also broke.Machine shop was my next trip.Good luck ,be careful.

Are you sure the threads aren't stripped? I don't remember for sure but it seems like it is 3/8 coarse thread. I'm heading to the shop now and will look and repost if you don't get an answer before I get back.

J.D.
The threads are fine . . the bolt they used just seems to be a slight bit small . . as I am able to wiggle it a little while putting it in and once it is all the way in.
Thanks.

The correct size is a 5/16 with 20 coarse thread and 24 fine thread on the manifold end. I have had hundreds of these apart so I speak from experience!
