Can anyone give me information on bleeding the brakes on a old Farmall 956 tractor. I replaced the main hyd. feed tube to the brake system and have not been able to bleed the air out of the system. Can anyone tell me if there is more to be done besides depressing the pedal and opening the schrader valve? Must the engine be running and at what power setting?

First of all, are you sure it is a 956 or is it a 856? There was the 6,7,8,12,and 1456 but not a 9. Let me know. Otherwise, I would assume that a MAJOR seal had broken, they are rather maitenence free and shouldn't have any problems that aren't easily identified. Good luck!! By the way, is it a gas or a diesel if it is a 856. Now that I think about it, it might be a Case IH which I don't know too much about.

Wow, I can't believe I forgot about that one. That almost made me laugh with my forgetfulness. That could be too. The 966 had only slight modifications over the 856, but the idea and set up is the same. If I were you, I'd take it to my nearest Case IH dealer and have it evaluated.
