I HAVEN'T BOUGHT ANY REPAIR MANUALS YET AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT THE VALVE CLEARENCE ON A FARMALL "C" WAS. THE MOTOR HAS A C-123 STAMPED ON THE SIDE OF IT. ALSO ONE OF MY REAR TIRES NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND I NOTICED ONE TIRE IS A 9-36 AND ONE IS A 10-36, WHICH ONE IS CORRECT FOR THIS YEAR? MAYBE ONE WAS THE OLD MEASUREMENT WAY VERSUS THE NEW?

the 10 X 36 was the OLD numbering system, Changed many years ago to newer numbers 11.2 X 36. The 9X39 was sometimes used in late 1940's. Check out miller tire online. R.

If your engine is a C123, then likely you have a Super C or someone replaced the engine with a Super C engine. I think very few Cs were built with the 123 engine. My manual for the C calls for .014 valve clearance with the engine warm. I suppose a Super C is the same.

Hi Haas

Supposedly the late C's had the 123. Mine (1952) has a 123, at least it's bored out to 3 1/8. Like Elton suggest, his is stamped C123. Where could I find the stamping? It would be interesting to know whether mine came from the factory that way, or had been rebuilt with 123 sleeves and pistons.

HEY DAVE, THE NUMBER C-123 IS PART OF THE CASTING OF THE MOTOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE ABOVE THE FIRING ORDER NUMBERS. THE BORE MEASURES 3" BUT I'M SURE THE SLEEVES CAN BE CHANGED TO A 3-1/8". THANKS FOR THE INFO. ELTON
