Sounds to me like you got an old mower there. May well even be a horse drawn set up. You might take a better look at the tongue as well. About all horse drawn machinery had a long tongue that would reach out in front of the horses. These tongues were subject to be altered in later years when farmers turned the horses lose and got on there first tractor. Alot of them cut there tongues off and made them shorter so the machinery would work better on the tractor. There was no need for the exceptionally long tongue then. I have never seen a real early mower for tractor but the mounted seat on implement is kind of a dead giveaway for horse drawn. You might look in the what I believe is the 100th anniversary International Harvester book. I looked through that book one time and it was quit detailed on all the equipment IHC made. I wish I could get my hands on one of these books again. If you could find one, it would probably be in there. I hope this helps.
