A retired co-worker who knows I tinker with red tractors has asked me about a valve for his 1947 B. I keep a 44H,53SC and a 57 450 going but am not up on manifold lifts or what kinda valve he needs! Anybody who can steer me in the right direction to buy such a part or info about would be much appreciated. Thanks!

This is the same part everyone is looking for as it deteriorates quickest as it is in the hotest part of the exhaust. It is before the muffler and right on top of the manifold. As far as I know there is not a source for them. Have to scour the bone yards and /or place an add in the classifieds section of this web site (scroll up and down on the left side of this page). Good luck. Dave.

Yes, they had lift-alls that operated by exhaust pressure. A valve in the manifold diverted exhaust to a cylinder which would lift cultivators etc. We had that system on a '47 BN my grandfather had when I was a kid. That's probably the valve you refer to.
Several guys on here are familiar with the system, but I don't know a good supplier of parts anymore. Keep checking back for other responses - in particular from gene b. He will likely know where you can get what you want. Maybe some others will know too.
