One way to tell if your charging system is working is to measure the voltage on your battery with everything off, then start it up and measure it again. If the system is charging, the voltage at the battery should be higher with the engine running.

I noted in your other post you mentioned that you "turned the key" and it started. Do you have a starter solenoid rigged in the system?????

On the amp gauge, note the needle position when everything is off. They don't always center at zero. Turn the ignition on without starting the engine and note the position. If it is showing a 3 or 4 amp positive indication, then you need to reverse the wires on the amp gauge.

With the amp gauge face laying down, if it is positive ground, the line from the battery goes on the left post. The line from the bat. post on the regulator, along with the line to the coil switch and lights go on the right post.

Just the opposite for negative ground.

Hey Joe. One thing you might want to remember is that the M is a positive ground system. Try putting your battery back in like it was originally and repolarize and see what happens. Hope this helps. Rocky
