My father passed away in November 2000 at he age of 88 and my sister and I have inherited a 1942 (according to the serial number) Farmall H tractor in very good working condition. My father used it around his farm and never seemed to have a problem with it. My sister and I have been contacted by two different people (a neighbor and a relative)that want to buy it and we have no idea of the value?

Right now it has a front-end loader attached to the tractor -- do you have an idea of the value of that too?

If anyone can help us in determining a value for the tractor (and the front end loader separately), or if I can be guided to someone who may be able to give us a value to the tractor, it would very much be appreciated.

The tractor is located in Southwest Minnesota.

I would guess you should ask $2000 and see what happens. The loader will increase the value. May want to see what other guys on this site say. good luck

Thanks for your guestimate -- you seem to be on target, I've had a couple of responses that are in that same neighborhood.

Always a hard call when you cant see the tractor. I've seen the sell all the way from $350.00 to $3500.00 depending on condition and how well equipped. The same goes for the loader. I get down your way quite often and have bought a number of tractors down there over the years. If I get down that way, I would be happy to stop by and give you my humble opinion for what it's worth. Up here around the cities, I usually get between $1000.00 and $1500.00 for an H that is in good running order. More or less depending on the variables. Good Luck

Thanks for the response. I've gotten a couple of responses in the $2000 range. It's helpful to have a general idea from which to start a discussion. Thanks for the offer to stop by if you're in the area and take a look at the tractor. Since I live in Alexandria, VA, I'd need to make arrangements with my sister, who lives in Minneapolis, in advance. We may, or may not be able, to make it happen. Thanks for sharing your insight.
