The throwout bearing is a thrust bearing so pressing directly on it won't hurt it like a normal ball bearing where you have to be careful to press on the inner race only if trying to install it on a shaft, or on the outer race only if trying to install it in a bore.

On main clutch bearing if going to replace it just use blocks on two sides under outer bearing and use something to drive middle of cast piece down. T/A one has two holes in back of cast holder. Block up on two sides of fork and angle blocks so you can put a spacer between spring loops and block so holder doesn't rock. Use a pin punch that will just pass through small holes. Moderate tap in one hole and then other one until it drops out. 3 to 4 taps most times. Just use something that works to drive them back on.

Split behind engine. Remove linkage from main and t/a clutch operating shaft. Remove two bolts in main clutch fork and slide operating shaft out. Remove release bearing and bearing carrier. Has 3 bolts. Remove clutch shaft. With top covers off center housing remove t/a clutch operating shaft retaining ring and washer on right side, Remove set screw from t/a operating shaft fork. slide shaft to left side until you see one key, remove it. Next move to left until second key is seen. after first key is out shaft can turn out of line with keyway on left so turn to line up if needed. Lift t/a clutch release bearing and fork out. Should be able to see what it needs from there. maybe I misunderstood question. Both bearings are a press on carrier or holder. This post was edited by D Slater on 11/17/2023 at 05:18 pm.
