Anybody ever put a buddy side by side seat on a Cub Cadet. President of our tractor club is interested if someone has and how they did it. He'd like to use it at shows instead of a golf cart so he can stay riding on an IH piece of equipment.

A guy I know put a school bus seat on his Cub Cadet. Works ok, but gets tricky trying to drive it if is a gearshift, easier if you use a Hydro Static model.

It's not a Cub Cadet but there's nothing special about the concept or the solution.

Build a bracket that holds two seats. Bolt the bracket to the fenders of the garden tractor.

Much depends on the model of the Cadet. Very early tractors are likely to be easier to modify. Later tractors with plastic fenders and rear housing would be more difficult.
Structural components must be attached to the metal of the tractor that are also structural. The buddy seat must clear all controls and movable attachments. The seat structure must be strong enough to be 150% capable of supporting the rider without flexing. the seat position should also not cause the small tractor to be unbalanced. Think tandem not side by side. In my opinion a trailer may be both easier to deal with but provide substantial storage space for purchases and personal items. a trailer also allows the tractor to resume its former life as a tractor with little grief.
