Hello. I own an IH 574. Got it at auction five years ago and
have had to basically replace everything on it. Carb,
distributor, wires, plugs, (most) fuel lines, fuel pump,
sediment brown (was silicone shut), and the belt. It runs but
this year Im having trouble with it over heating and back
firing.
I knew the exhaust manifold was cracked but it seems like
the intake is going as well. Its beyond repair. So I have to
get a new manifold.
Problem is I just happen to have the under slung version of
this tractor that is apparently very rare. So there are no new
manifolds available and used look just about as ratty as the
one Ive got. Also they want $400 for it as opposed to a new
overhead for $150.
I was wondering if there is any issues with just slapping on a
brand new overhead exhaust/intake manifold and calling it a
day. I might have to cut a hole in the hood but I have the
equipment to do that.
