Which fast hitch?

Hello everyone. I am going to an auction on Tuesday June 6, and am looking at a fast hitch for my cub. On the photos I see a fast hitch sitting on a pallet with a few other parts, but I'm not sure if it is a FH for a cub or superA/100-130-140. There are a few cubs at the auction and a few 140's, but i'm not sure if any of them have a FH installed. Because he has both types of tractors, the FH could be for either one. My question is, is there an easy way to identify which FH is sitting on an unmarked pallet? Thanks for the help.

If there is a 100 or 140 there with
a fast hitch, compare the one that's
to be sold separate to one installed
on a tractor. If memory serves me
correctly, a correct Cub fast hitch
has shorter lift links that connect
up to the rockshaft on it compared
to the correct longer links for a
100 - 140. I have seen a Cub one
work fine on a 100 but believe there
would be lift height limitations on
putting a 100-140 style on a Cub.

On a cub tractor one point hitch the beam with the socket has an upward bend in it while the 100 thru 140 the socket beam is straight.

There are pictures of Cub fast hitches on tmtractorDOTcom. They are a competing site so I can't provide a link.

One thing a Cub fast hitch has that a 100/130/140 does not, is a depth control lever. It could be missing so it's not a 100% guarantee of one or the other.

Another feature of the Cub fast hitch is the rockshaft and bail are connected to the same casting that bolts to the final drives. A 100/130/140 fast hitch has a separate rockshaft that bolts between the fenders.

BE's comment about the single casting on each side that holds the rockshaft and bail is probably the quickest way to identify one that fits a standard (Farmall) Cub.

You need to be aware that there were 2 versions that fit the standard Cub. Early uses a depth adjustment lever, late uses a crank. These are interchangeable on the same tractors. There is a third version for the Low-Boy. It does NOT interchange with the other 2. There are a lot of parts that may be damaged or missing. Some are expensive to replace. The helper spring, pull bar extension, and depth control parts are often missing. Print out the Fast-Hitch pages from the Parts Catalog and take with you so you know what to look for.
