I think its not part of the water pump now, my suspicion is the connecting rod peice from the radiator and steering bracket. But maybe the throttle piece with the springs

Slow learner, trying to suggest you give us the brand and model. I thought you had been posting here longer and were probably aware that an Essextridirectional is a factitious machine referenced when an odd or unknown model is the subject.

Oh dammmmit. I was going to put in it the title and I had to back down the title as it was too long and meant to put the model in the description and forgot. Welp. Hm. Anyway, its a 1954 SMTA Farmall.

its nothing from the water pump, its someones washers as u can see the round washer was on top of the red one , or behind it. hunt it down or junk it.

The red one is a homemade shim used with whatever might even have been used as a shim for the alternator if it has been converted to 12 volt or on the rod to the radiator for again whatever reason.
