To start this rant, I wanted to post it on YDT First ,as this is where I started out years ago.( I 100% respect ALL of the members who
are on here ,and answer questions all the time for REAL tractor enthusiast ..) ;)

I FIRST bought this 1952 Super M Stage 1 from my local scrap yard under the threat if I DID NOT,then they were going to scrap it,and it
would be melted into magma... I bought it,and it was dropped off at my driveway EVEN before i even paid for it ???? (It got it paid for...
;) )
I bought it as replacement parts for my 1953 Super M Stage 2 if it ever needed a final drive part.....

Over a decade later,I posted a pic of it next to my Stage 2.... Got A LOT of sad face and When yo gonna restore that other
tractor?????

So......Here we are ... I have a collection about what I am going to do..... I have been buying parts daily. Here is my starting spot

Not being mean, I lost a friend (principle of the HS I taught at) to concrete blocks laid holes sideways. they are weak as glass and have 10% of the strength when the holes are vertical. I recommend not using them for anything but walls. Wood is best, and of course jack stands. but help my psychology and your insurance company, by replacing the concrete with wood. Good effort and best of luck on getting it operational. Jim

So just because somebody kept asking when are you going to fix a tractor you bought for spare parts. Is going to intimidate you into spending vast sums more than the tractor will be worth after it is running. It's your tractor do as you want. Not as everybody else wants. You will also then not have the spare parts you want. Wheres the gain here other then to say you kowtowed to someone else's whim. Your money do as you want. With all the tractors we use/have we don't worry about if we have one that is setting not in use. None of them in a so-called restored condition.

With parts getting more expensive all the time you could buy a running complete tractor cheaper. If you really want a project my suggestion is to have the engine block checked out first. If good at least you know a starting point or have a good extra for other tractor. If cracked that could affect plans.

Congratulations on getting started on the 2nd tractor! While there may not be a financial advantage to restoring or fixing them up there can be a tremendous amount of pleasure in seeing what you can accomplish and the satisfaction in getting it done. Enjoy!

(quoted from post at 04:55:01 09/22/22) Like another post said, get it off that cement block before someone gets hurt. Good luck in your project

Who's gonna get hurt? IF the block breaks, the front end will drop <8". The odds of someone being anywhere near that tractor when it happens is slim to none. Even if someone is near the tractor the only way they would be hurt is if they were sticking some part of their body inside the hole of the cinder block.

I find it hilarious that in a thread where people are admonishing the OP for "kowtowing" to the whims of others, those same folks are DEMANDING that he kowtow to their SAFETY POLICE demands.

Seems to me the likely time for that block to break is not while it is sitting there undisturbed. More likely it will happen when somebody is mucking around with it. True, they probably won't have an appendage stuck through the concrete block. They will more likely be sitting under the tractor pulling the engine pan to see what the crankshaft looks like or removing the Lift-All pump.

You would think it was no longer necessary to post warnings about the dangers of misusing concrete blocks. But there it is again. Still funny.

Would you advise your mom to avoid using her step stool if it had a tread coming loose (until you fixed it). If not, --- I know this happens, and I know that
people get hurt. Fixing a safety mistake is one thing I do every day (I am a university professor teaching machine and manufacturing technology to junior and
senior engineering students. Their having no clue becomes my responsibility. Jim
