450 and a discbine

(quoted from post at 15:49:23 09/18/22) Hp should be at the lower limit, but Hydraulic might not make it. Jim

That s what I m afraid of. May have to put more improvements into the old 990 until I can upgrade tractors too.

I thought of that but there are two permanently installed cylinders. One on each side. Not sure what would be involved in changing them.

A hydraulic pressure increase can be made with 2 cylinders. )ne at maybe 4 inches and the other at 3. The cylinders are placed so the big one strokes the little
one. The displacement of the little one needs to equal the volume of the two existing cylinders. It works. Jim

I have run my Hesston 1320 (9 ft 2 ) discbine behind my 5065E Deere with 55 PTO hp and behind a 6530 Mahindra (57 PTO hp). They both had plenty of power, so your 450 should have plenty of power.

If your 450 has any hope of running a full discbine, the Hesston 3309 (same as the venerable New Idea 5209, red paint version) is the one. That's about the lightest and easiest-running machines out there.

If it has flail conditioner (I don't think that's an option) forget it. You'd be more in the 80HP range.

You won't be able to run 9MPH but it should do okay in 3rd gear.

Do you think the hydraulics would lift the header?
