Replacing clutch in my M, noticed the lower countershaft seal leaking. Is the seal replaceable in flange? My parts book shows flange and seal as one piece, part # 9300DX. Thanks for any help.

Both the upper transmission shaft and the lower counter shaft have replaceable seals. You will need to remove the hydraulic pump drive lug from the countershaft before the seal and seal plate will come off. I, like most people who have removed this drive lug, welded a piece of square stock to an old junky socket and used it to remove the drive lug. You will want to use a well fitting piece of square stock steel and a good impact tool.
Good luck

I have linked the manufacturers online parts diagrams for your M. Open the link and go to chassis. Then open subsection 219 for the transmission. Number 70 is the lower shaft seal. Click on the part number, it will show as unavailable. Down the page a bit you will see ..Replacements and Substitutions.. click the ..View more.. there. Now it shows you the available sub-part number of 381907R91 priced at $10.25. For the upper it is key 40, follow the same process to find the available sub-part number. It will be PN 71871C1 at $28.25. That one is a little higher. At least they do not have some crazy high price like they occasionally do for parts for these old tractors sometimes seals are $60 - $80 or more. Then you go find a crossover to get one at a reasonable price from a different source. I would definitely screw a lower bolt of that cap back in once you have it off and pry against it to try to raise the shaft up to check the bearing. If the play is nearing anything much over a 1/16 maybe up to 3/32 inch you may as well bite the bullet and replace the bearing or the seal will never hold.
