54 super c rear main seal replacement ???

Can the rear main engine seal (felt, 2 piece) on my super c be replaced without removing the engine/flywheel .. I understand it is hard to get lower part of the seal holder off,...but is it NOT doable (before I try)...

That seal really sucks to change when you do have the seal holder off. It is really difficult to pack the felt seal all the way into the holder and also a real pain to get the end lengths correct.

I really don t think that you want to try this with out removing the seal plate.

thanks... I guess I will just just deal with the leak for another year...
