Farmall 350 Fast Hitch and Remote Questions

In the pics, you can see the female ends of the remotes on my Farmall 350. I am to understand IH and JD had propriety remotes that I believe the IH variants were a larger diameter than a Pioneer remote? I may not have the proper lingo down when writing this post...

The remotes take what I gather is a pioneer make end as they snap in and fit like a glove. However, the casting holding the female ends are embossed with IH.

What do you make of these female remote ends coming off my 350? Are they pioneer, IH or something else? Just curious - thanks!

This 350 has the fast hitch and before the hay season gets away from me, I want to put a square baler on it - just for kicks and see if the tractor will run it without breaking in half - LOL!

Question is - will the latching mechanisms that hold the fast hitch drawbar in place - will it come unlatched with the harsh forward and backward surges of the square balers plunger stroke? The latches look to be in pretty good shape, but I thought I would ask.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Bill

Old style IH and Pioneer are interchangeable, mix and match. One has a ball, the other a 'poppet'. Doesnt matter. I have several examples here. Never had a problem of hooking up.Hook up some and see.

I grew up with a 300utility, fast hitch. We pulled, on the fast hitch drawbar, a 50t baler with it as well as a hay conditioner most all summer, as well as a few other things and also our fast hitch implements. I now own it and have used a #37 baler on it. The latches are actually worn quite a bit. The tractor has 7800+ hrs on it. I have used it the most and nothing has ever made the latches come unhooked.
I don't know if you saw my response when you posted about using the haybine, but your 350 should pull it in 3rd high with ease. We used a haybine on the 300 for a few of its last seasons on the home farm, and 3rd gear ran it just fine.
As far as your hydraulic couplers, I do not know the correct name-I just know all mine are the same, but I think pioneer is correct. Mark.

IH had two different couplers with different sizes. One like you show that will work with the Pioneer and also with the ISO models of today. Those were on most of the older tractors like yours up through the 06or 56 series. the 66 series had those larger couplers on them and would not match up with other couplers. They also had a solid body with locking levers like Deere used on their tractors from the 4020 models on up to later. our 1466 had them and we changed them out for regular style couplers like you show so that we didn't have to fool around with always chnging ends or adapters and all that. We even on our 4166 used to have a set of short hoses with one coupler on one end and pioneer on the other as adapters. For the exact time frames I might be off a few years but should be close. The regular couplers you plug into your Massey and other tractors will probably work just fine in your 350. If they don't they will be one of 2 problems either they will not plug in or they will not push both ends back to let oil flow. So you will know right away on that.

We baled with the fast hitch on a 560 pulling a New Holland 273. Wagons were H+s 16 foot. Did it from when got the tractor until we bought the 686 in mid 80s. Never had those latches come loose even when pulling a 4-16 plow. I have only seen the latches come loose once on any of the 5 tractors that had fast hitch and I don't believe it was latched down. Having said that I have seen baling wire on the latch a couple times of other farmers tractors.

Thanks for the info and I did see your reply on the haybine. I do not think I have ran it in third gear direct - yet...

Thanks for the info!

Got it - thanks for the info.

I hope to find out next week as we are finishing up baling and I want to give this Farmall 350 a try.
