wd9 white smoke on gas side 1953

Hi my wd9 has sat for a few years and went to stsrt it an it smokes white, then when i switsh it to diesel it goes to high rpm's with no throttle control, just wide open, i know it is running on gas because it is using the gas in the small tank, i bleed the 3 filters, i can hear thr click when i move the switching lever, thank Joe 815-481-1411

Sounds like your rack is stuck open in the injection pump.
 
It is doubtful it could free up on its own. I have never worked on one of those but I would guess that the fuel leaks down and the air gets to the surface of the parts. The top of the exposed fluid level of the fuel evaporates and slowly condenses on the exposed surfaces. Then drys or turns gummy essentially glueing the parts in place. That is my theory, lets see if others agree or have their own theories. Did you find the other posts Jim was talking about, as he said there is more info there. I placed a link to it.

She is good to go, rack was stuck. took off the oil fill tube could see the rack stuck tight, lacqer thinner and a long screw driver did the trick , thanks to all , Joe
