Shelling corn

Time to start shelling last years corn crop to feed my pigs, turkeys and chickens I have. In the picture I'm using my F14 for shelling. Tractor works real well on the sheller. The sheller is a New Holland and you can see the shadow of my Super C hooked to the gravity wagon. I'll put my H on the hammer mill and grind the cobs for bedding.

I seen them shelling corn in Twin Brooks South Dakota, about 3 weeks ago, the old boy that bought that sheller new, was there he just sat in his car and observed,it was at the threshing show! It was a Minneapolis Moline Model D sheller looked like new yet, you could read all the writing on it. But that New Holland looks like it fits the bill, for what u want to do!!

Made a lot of money shoveling corn each spring for commercial sheller. Best part was seeing who could kill the most rats!

I got my sheller almost 30 years ago while site seeing around a local junk yard. Cost me $20 and other than a v-belt that's all I have in it. I've shelled a lot of corn in those years for my stock. It will shell as fast as I can shovel it which these days is steadily in favor of the sheller and not my shoveling ability.

I understand but they had the drag setup all laid out and had plenty of help, they kept the sheller busy, they had two 250 bushels gravity box's to shell, i hadn't seen it done for 25 years! I had a fun day watching the lawn and garden tractors plowing with their one bottom plows!

Maybe its the picture but couldnt you set it up a little closer to the crib? Just far enough away so you can turn around with a shovel in your hands. Seems like it would be quite a step saving measure. Do you use the wheel barrow to feed it? In the area I grew up in Kansas milo became very popular in the 60s through the 80s so that was the feed crop that replaced corn. Milo had to be direct cut with a combine so I was never involved with corn shelling.
