Re: Farmall Cub not running

I would think your carb is the culprit. Sounds like you may have done a half job on it. Did you take the jets out?

Did you ream the small holes/passage ways with a small wire, preferably welding torch tip cleaners. Soak for a while in solvent

and then blast it with air. It the passage and jets that plug up. Carb can look clean BUT watch the little holes in the jets. They

can also look good but might need a reaming.

sometimes takes a lot of patience. BTDT. Kris

you need to soak it in gunk overnight fully disassembled. wash in cool water then blow out all passages. just because the gas is running into
the carb dont mean the engine will run.

A clean bowl and float and seat does not necessarily mean a clean carb.

It needs to soak in a good cleaner, and the little passages beyond the valve and seat and metering jets need to be clean.

I use torch cleaning tips or a fine copper wire to ream out the passages. Has worked well for me, and yes, in my case were the culprits

for a poorly running carb. You are getting close. good luck in your venture. Kris

Hello Mel welcome to YT! There are two ways to view
this forum. Since you put 3 X s in a row the newer
version accepted your post some how but the older
Classic view did not. I put a query into support on the
Site Comments.. section to see what went on. The x
letters in a row should be blocked according to them
as a spam filter. So I suspect many of the replies you
are getting are from the old Classic users who will not
touch the Modern button to save their lives. So they
are not seeing your first post that says this is a new
carburetor. The right people have not seen your thread
yet. I have read on here that some of those Cub ..will
fit.. replacement carbs need the jet drilled out to make
them run right. I am going to say you seem to have
more than just that going on. Maybe if Old and
Grandpa Love see this post more light will be shed.

probably need new needle and seat and a good cleaning job on the carb if you have to have the choke pulled carb just isnt getting
fuel steady and itsd not mixed good or no choke wouls be needed

Grandpa Love posted about the China carb and the hole needing to be drilled out. BTDT and have one of those China made carbs on my Cub. When I got my cub it didn't have a carb and I sure didn't want to pay a lot for a carb till I knew the Cub was worth it

I disagree with the comment about not
buying a Chinese carb. It's not the
fact it's a Chinese carb, it was a
quality control issue, it appears the
cnc machine broke a bit and missed that
hole. No big deal. For $35 it is well
worth it. Especially if you buy as many
cubs as I do. We just bought our 32nd
cub, most dead, over half missing the
carb. Amazing how many people take a
carb off to fix it and then lose the
darn thing! Oh , out of 32 cubs, 29 are
repaired and back to work! Also, we
have had a few IH carbs that were un
fixable, stuff stripped out, warped or
broke. It happens. BUT , glad your cub
is running! Have a great weekend!
