Farmall Cub not running

Put a new carb on Farmall Cub S/N 46XXX....and it will run a very short period only on full choke and then stops! also stops when trying to increase RPMs with full choke. Checked sediment bowl, etc...all seems to be ok. but needs full choke to start! It doesn't start right away...fuel is fresh.

also What is the best way to polarize the generator with the hood on?..not much room to feel the generator connections under the hood?

Disconnect the fuel line at the carburetor. Open the sediment bowl valve and let it run into a container. It should run a full strong stream. If it just drips and dribbles you have a fuel flow restriction somewhere in the tank or sediment bowl.

Thanks..I have good flowage from gas tank to carb. Cleaned the carb and found the float valve was slightly corroded...so cleaned it and got great flowage out of screw on bottom of Carb. Maybe that caused the restrictive flow before? Tractor did run for a longer period of time...so maybe it helped? but tractor only ran with full choke for a short period!...when trying to increase RPMs, it stops too.
It just runs a short period idling and stops.....tried to adjust idle screw...no help either! But gas tank looks very clean and carb too.

So is it running longer or won't it stay running? You say both in the same sentence basically.

If you are not getting good flow out of the bowl drain then the carburetor is not flowing enough fuel. Make sure the needle and seat are clean and polished. Make sure the inlet is clear. Make sure the float can move easily and is adjusted properly.

Maybe confusion? But am getting great flow out of the bowl drain! Needle valve and seat showed some corroding so cleaned/polished before too! Yes, mentioned running longer after cleaning/polishing the needle valve and seat.. but it will not stay running! Only runs with full choke on...and then stops...starts up again, but only runs for that short period of time with full choke! thanks

Have you checked float height.

Pull the main jet out and make sure it is not partly plugged.

If mine does not operate correctly after sitting a while, pulling the main jet and cleaning it usually solves the problem.

Thanks so darn much for your patience and comments...however found the problem! Don't know the proper nomenclature, but this was a new CHINA made carburetor! Had it apart several times but someone has written before...not sure who..as lost that site..but mentioned that needed to drill a hole...actually it comes out ahead of the choke when closed! that hole was not drilled by CHINA!! so decided to take the chance...actually looked at the IH carburetor to be sure.. and there was that hole...so did drill that hole and BEHOLD, the cub idles great...needed that air when at full choke? but anyway by drilling that hole in the CHINA carburetor did the trick!!..so the moral of my story is: DO NOT BUY THESE CHEAP CARBURET0RS! GET A GOOD REPAIR KIT AND DO IT YOURSELF.. Again thanks so much as it has been a very frustrating experience for me and appreciated your help!
