Installing the PTO on a Cub

I removed the PTO on my 47 Cub to replace the oil seal and gaskets and now can seem to get it back in. I can't get the pin into the collar that puts in gear and get the end of the PTO shaft to fit into the transmission shaft at the same time. I've removed the oil fill plug so I can see a little bit into the unit an I loosened the set screw in the sliding collar so I can get it closer to the end of the PTO shaft but still no luck. Anybody got a trick for reinstallation?

My wife always helps with this! She looks in fill hole with flashlight and guides the pin in the collar, I work from the back and line up the shaft. Takes a few tries and patience!

That's what I just tried and finally got in installed. Somehow she likes knowing I can't get a tractor fixed without here. LOL

Wish the 2 of you would come up here and fix the PTO on my Cub I hate that it will not stay engaged with out being tied in place
