My cub has an annoying whine from the hydraulic pump. Seems less when the control is at the forward stop. Fully functional and smooth operating otherwise. When I got it, the whine was worse and the hyd tank was low, so I added Hytran. Some noticeable improvement, but still there. Maybe it time to drain and flush it with diesel then drain and refill with new Hytran, or does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

Rebuilt the pump and touch control on my 1959 cub... still whines but not as loudly as my 1967 lo-boy, which I have done nothing to other than change the hytran.

Thanks all, I think I'll just leave it alone. Maybe put a straight pipe on the exhaust then I won't be able to hear the pump!

Flushing with diesel is a good way to cook a pump.

Couple of my cubs whine, as long as they are working I will leave them alone. Keep them full of fluid. I use the same oil as the motor.

I would refrain from flushing with fuel it lacks the slippery of oil for the pump parts. Just open it up or listen to the whine. May be worn enough the whine will never quit. If the screen is clean use it till it stops working.

There is an internal suction screen. Hydraulic unit has to be taken apart to get to it. Its under the head of the unit. But you say it works fine?? Probably worth checking the screen, probably never been done since it came from the factory. The whole unit probably needs a good cleaning inside.
