The bearing for Cub PTO output is described in the parts catalog as a (New Dimension) 3205 (? bearing) (#'s 10 701 D -or- ST 225 A ) which, when I investigate for aftermarket (or eBay NOS) purchase a 3205 bearing is variably available as either a -standard- single row ball bearing , or, as a Double Row Angular Contact type.
I haven't taken apart the offending area -yet-, I just know that it's loose. and the area around it is greasy/grimy.
When I was looking up replacements, I found a kit on one of the parts sites that had a couple gaskets, a couple snap ring clips, a seal, and a bearing, for nearly $100, so I almost suspect that there is -maybe- something special/unusual (bearing ?) in there.
Can anyone reveal the aspects of that bearing for me ?
Was that original bearing -also- an open style, shielded (one -or- both sides), or maybe even sealed (on one side) could be an advantage ? It seems as if it was expected(?) to be greased (?), but maybe didn't get the maintenance attention it was set up for?
