Cub PTO output ball bearing

The bearing for Cub PTO output is described in the parts catalog as a (New Dimension) 3205 (? bearing) (#'s 10 701 D -or- ST 225 A ) which, when I investigate for aftermarket (or eBay NOS) purchase a 3205 bearing is variably available as either a -standard- single row ball bearing , or, as a Double Row Angular Contact type.
I haven't taken apart the offending area -yet-, I just know that it's loose. and the area around it is greasy/grimy.
When I was looking up replacements, I found a kit on one of the parts sites that had a couple gaskets, a couple snap ring clips, a seal, and a bearing, for nearly $100, so I almost suspect that there is -maybe- something special/unusual (bearing ?) in there.
Can anyone reveal the aspects of that bearing for me ?
Was that original bearing -also- an open style, shielded (one -or- both sides), or maybe even sealed (on one side) could be an advantage ? It seems as if it was expected(?) to be greased (?), but maybe didn't get the maintenance attention it was set up for?

The online parts book says ST225B is the bearing. A
web search shows an offering for that bearing for
$9.95. You do not need the super duper double row
bearing. You will never wear that bearing out in your
lifetime, only if you plan to use it with a Woods mower
under it to mow a couple acres of grass every week.

My inquiry ran more along the line of "what's the factory install"?, and what I came across when searching on that 3205 bearing.
There was no shortage of -vintage production- New Dimension bearings, and nearly all the listings proved to be no more expensive that parts originating far East modern production.
The part in the tractor seems to be on it's last legs, and at this point, I've no idea what sort of PTO load will be expected (I gave up on routine Woods mower Cub lawn cutting many moons ago), but I sort of wonder if the Mott D9 flail that came on this tractor was any harder on that bearing point than my other Cub's Woods belly mower fitment. The Woods mower's belt arrangement just -might- have had less stretch load since the belt for it is -really- long, and had a (couple ?) of twists in it, That PTO arrangement had a chain/sprockets lay shaft before the drive pulley too.
The Mott's belt drive has the pulley directly on the PTO output shaft, and the belt seemed like it was pretty taut (I've never operated the tractor with the flail mower -yet-, -but- as I mentioned, that bearing is sorta' sloppy, and the whole area around that output is a grimy mess.
I might set this tractor up to drive an external hydraulic pump that I salvaged from a different machine to possibly supply a mini-hoe attachment my neighbor gave me. I don't think a Hydra-touch has enough volume to adequately supply multiple cylinders/hydraulic circuits (??).
Has anyone taken that output bearing/shaft/pulley arrangement apart and could report what they found if it all came about as a project to replace that bearing, or cure a leak at that seal?

Seems like I may have to just dismantle that portion of the tractor and see what I find when the assembly is in my hands.

An ST225B is correct. It is a single row open ball bearing. There are multiple interchange numbers, some with various shield or seal options.

You can see what one looks like and some interchange numbers on this page (if I can get past the censor):

Thanks for the info, I appreciate the link. Now to source the lock ring without trekking across 2 counties to visit a Case dealer.

A bit of bearing knowledge I found a little while back.....
A -shielded- bearing is meant for an application where the -outer- race is the part that rotates due to the "lubricated for life" grease deposit will sling to that outer race, and stay inside the bearing.
If used in an axle-rotating situation the grease will migrate toward the center and escape the shielding-grease retaining barrier-, and starve the bearing for lubrication over time.
Found that in an SKF bearing application catalog, for reference.

The one at the link I posted earlier says it comes with the ring. By the way, the early ones did not have the ring. The shaft was staked to hold the bearing in place.

I use parts off this list to fix the
pto on several cubs. Local auto parts
stores had all of them.
