Farmall Cub battery box

Looked as close as I could at photos available for battery box kit for Cub.
The "restoration quality" version is one thing, but I'd like to know any feelings about the 1/2 that cost version.
I know not to expect isolating rubbers and -exact- cutouts for cables & such, but will the $65 version bolt up, and accommodate a standard size (available) 6v battery without problems?
I have two tractors with varying degree of battery box (one has three-side surround, original lid w/isolators, and a -very- rusty bottom. no front cover), and the other -more viable- deluxe version Cub has a home made thing that just keeps the battery from walking all over under the seat.
I'm not re-building show pieces, but hate spending good money for substandard junk too. And would just appreciate some feedback from anyone who bought the "good enough (?)" battery box.

Friend of mine bought one of each. The
good one for his dad's Cub getting an
all original rebuild. The cheap one for
his garden cub. I personally couldn't
see a difference .... Cheap one looks
fine.

If you are just looking for something to cover up the battery and look the part, they work just fine for that.

Some folks don't like them because they are not as heavily built as the originals, but they're not structural. They're there to cover up the battery. They don't need to be made to withstand a small caliber pistol round.

The only problem is a Group 1 battery generally does not fit anymore, being too tall but that is not the box's fault. The batteries are larger.

I prefer letting the battery get good airflow. It reduces the corrosion. My preferred Cub battery box is a generic plastic battery tray from O'reilly's.

My cub doesn't even have a battery box. The box that was there was so bad I just pulled on it hard and it came off in my hands. So the battery just sits on the floor board. Ground cable is so short it keeps the battery in place

Yes and no. If you have a rear light it attaches to a bracket on the battery box. I friend had a light attached to the bracket on a cheap box when he loaded the tractor up to take it somewhere. When he got there, his combo light and the bracket were gone. For the cost of his lost combo-light, he could have more than paid for a good box.

Have you been able to install it yet?
Does the lid fit with the modern battery?

I'd prefer to have a suitable battery box that enables the battery to be anchored in position where it's meant to be.
Way too many tractors get fire damaged by direct short circuit of a battery that was just floating around and had a hot lead contact ground.
I was driving a slap-dash car with a loose battery one afternoon and the battery short-circuited and exploded. Not good.
Hate to think of something similar occurring with a battery that I was basicly sitting on top of. Yikes!

ihdealers son, i seen in an old post you had a few years back you were looking for some front brackets for a IH504 with a 2001 loader, i have a set i took off my 504 , if your interested PM me . thanks

I tried the PM route, but came across this: "...Private messaging is disabled..."

I -AM- interested. and although I've got the loader frame mounted, it certainly -isn't- with the original forward brackets, and before I continue the project to completion, now would be time to change things up.
A couple photos would be great, but not -absolutely- needed. since I discovered that it is a resting area and centering method(?) for the framework and not a hard point for bolting the whole business in place like one might expect.
I could share email with you, or we could try some other method to communicate that you'd be comfortable with ?

next to the profile button to the right ,is the email button, on the bottom of the page , hit that and it should redirect you
