Design shape on fuel line for farmall h

Why do you suppose Farmall made the curly Q fuel line and then ran it thru the frame hole in route to the carb on an H ? Original or mod ? Flow rate ? Im curious !

Just one of those fun thoughts you have when you ponder design !

Thanks

Like others have said but also lest out expansion and contraction .

This is a real pain to do when making up a new line , my Parker benders have made that job much easier .

I had rats eat part of my rubber H fuel line, filling the barn with gas. I got steel line, and bent it to fit. It
was a challenge, I bent it over my knee, over the fender, over the bench vise, over everything. Had to install
it, remove it, re-install it..... the good part is the sense of complete satisfaction when the job was done. Wow.
I even installed a shut-off valve down by the carb. A real PITA, but so satisfying.

yes as tractor vet always points out... no inline filters on tractors or rubber hose. and i agree. plus your shut off valve has to be right at the tank not the carb. its not doing its proper job at the carb.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right, but I look at taht and I just don't want to go re-do the whole thing.

As for the circle bend in the line,
that was for the line to be able to
flex a little bit longer or shorter
when you screwed it into carb and
sediment bowl fittings. If it just ran
in a straight line from the sediment
bowl to the carb, there would be no
stretch to it when you tightened up
the fittings.
As for going through the frame, I
didn't realize they went through a
hole. Maybe mine have just all been
removed, and not re-routed back
through the front gas tank mounting
tower.

There is a special tool for bending tubing and most plumbers have them (you need a different one for each size of tubing). I have replaced several fuel lines with steel and one old mechanic told me to avoid loops and sags. I had a B that came to me with a rubber hose with a loop and it would not run well when the tank got low. A steel line fixed the problem.
