350 Diesel Smoking

Finally got the 350 diesel running after 20+ years of sitting in the back of the shed. It starts great but blows a lot of white smoke and still sounds like it is missing some. I was going to take the energy cells out and clean them but the pipe plugs are very tight in the block. I am afraid to put the Milwaukee impact on them for fear of cracking the block. Do you guys have another trick for getting these out? Could there be something with the injector pumps or lines that are causing the issues with the smoke and missing?

Thanks,
Noah

Use a infrared (non contact thermometer to find the missing cylinder by temp. Only work on what is wrong. A compression test is a
deciding factor as well. They are dramatically expensive to rebuild. Jim

I worked for a good Oliver dealer and they also used energy cells. That is the last place to look. have you tried Jim's advice? Have you loosened the high pressure lines
one at a time and see which cylinder makes the least difference?

Thanks for the tips guys. I will check it out and report back. That will hopefully narrow the problem down.

After sitting that long I would leave the
wrenches in the box for a little bit and
run it some, preferably with a load. Add
some good anti stick fuel treatment such
as hot shot secrete or Lucas. Also
wouldn't hurt to run some similar in the
oil. If it doesn't improve then start
diagnostics as suggested, it's cheaper in
the long run than guessing.
