An early one.2 valves per cylinder,vs 4 on the later ones.IMHO,the best of the bunch.

If you read knifes linked article a ways down it gets to the fact that it is the Cummins engine first used in Dodge pickups in 1989. As said in the article it was 5.9L or 359 CID. You must not read SVCummins posts. You must be asking due to the 706 with one installed that was on the Kansas auction.

Consolidated Diesel Corp., some mid 1980's Case tractors used these engines then Dodge pickups used them.
