IHC Cub Lo Boy motor slows when clutch pedal depressed

Learning as I go about my new (to me) 1967 Cub Lo Boy.
Completed a service as the tractor had been sitting for some time before I got it.
One unusual thing I noticed is that when the clutch pedal is pushed in, the motor slows down quite a bit. Does it hot or cold. Clutch pedal free play is correct and clutch works just fine. Haven't seen this on any other tractors I've had.
Is this common? If not, any ideas on what to check? I greased the fitting on the bottom of the clutch housing, but have not removed the plate there to look at the TO bearing.
Nice old tractor that I don't want to overlook something and tear it up.
Thanks in advance

Good afternoon, mr.precision: I have a 1956 cub that does the same thing, I assume it is the carbon throwout bearing. It is a nuisance in chilly weather when engine is first started and barely running...step on clutch pedal and kill engine...grrr. I have had this cub for over 20 years, still same.

Perfectly normal. It's because of the solid graphite throwout bearing.

Use the cheapest grease you can find on the bearing, as it depends on the grease separating and the thinner oily part soaking into the graphite for lubrication.

Thanks, guys.
Does the grease fitting on the bottom reach the TO bearing, or do you need to remove the plate to get to the TO bearing zerk?
Owner's manual is kinda vague about this.
