A final update on this topic.
After about 3 hours of run time I'm happy
to report no visible leaks from the pump.
I thought it might be leaking internally
but I see no increase in oil level on the
dipstick.
I've read that leaks can still occur
pretty quickly if the seals are wearing
against a grooved shaft or an improperly
installed seal etc. For now I'll just
keep a close eye on it and change the
engine oil that has been mixing with
hytran.
A big thanks to all for helping this
novice through the process. It's was
great learning and I'm very happy to save
about $500 in the process! Now it's time
to replace the next most aggressive leak,
the seal in the steering arm. I'm sure
I'll be posting about that soon. I also
hope to get some time on the 350 one way
power steering issue. Thanks Paul
