Hello: I have a IH 660 tractor with 16.9X34 tires and i am wondering if it will pull a IH #16 5-14 plow and the tires will fit in the furrow? Any help appreciated. Thank you!!!

just curious why u have those small tires on a 660? gonna be lots of slippage . i pull a 770 5/16 plow with mine and it has 18.4 X34 rubber, 5 weights per side and 1/2 full of fluid. some 660's even had the 20 inch tires put on. those 16.9 came with the wd9 and when the super's came out they had 18.4x34 also. 660 is way more powerful. sure they will fit in the furrow. 660 is a powerful tractor but you need the traction to the ground.

The open furrow is typically a little wider than the bottom width, especially if you're getting a good flip-over of the ground. Even if it isn't, though, the plowed side of the furrow will be movable enough to accommodate a tire even quite a bit wider than the bottom width.

No worries.I've plowed a lot of ground with 18.4 tires pulling 14 inch bottoms.Yoy will never see a tire track.Go for it!

I had the 18.4X34 but they were dry rotted and blew out and with a limited budget the local tire guy had a pair of 16.9X34 so yea someday i'll get the bigger ones. i do have 900lbs of weights 3 per side on the rear but no fluid.

No problems fitting in the furrow at all. An 18.4 wide tire easily fits in a 14" furrow. 20.8 does pack the plowed side of the furrow a little but the next pass covers it up.
