power steering farmall 300

was trying to find pics or diagram of correct placement of power steering unit...brackets and so on.....so when i find a unit i know what to
look for an hopefully get all parts to hook up right...went to ih parts diagram but only found ps unit.....where exactly does it mount...i
have never seen one on a tractor...thanks as always dewy

Not 100 percent sure on this but I do not think a factory PS on a 300 had a separate pump. It used a priority valve to run off the stock hydraulics. In the link is a complete used setup for a 400-450 from eBay I know nothing about the seller. If you want to go that route go back to the CNHI parts page and check to see if both models take the same parts. As far as the pump mount web search.. Belt Driven Power Steering Pump Bracket.. and that should show you the commonly used pump mount for an Eaton pump used with a Charlynn system that bolt outside the governor plate. With that system there will be a separate reservoir to mount as well.

i saw that one on ebay..the steering rod with worm gear looks bent,may be pic,thats the only kind i have seen just never on tractor...thats what in parts diagram but doesnt show how an where to hook up ...i dont really want anything sticking out of hood...would love to see one on tractor with hood off.........dewy

I think the bend is just an illusion, I think it is just a cut down original anyway. I do not know if you do this but if I think there should be a photo on the web for something I do a search ..Farmall power steering images.. it will then often show you what you want to see, but you may have to scan through a lot of pics to find it. It seems like if you put photos on the end of the search less pics come up and a lot of them want to open in Pinterest. Anyway by doing that search one of the first pics I see was of a under the hood of a 400 with a Behlen unit on it, sets right over the valve cover. Many of the photos that come up are from posts here or on red power so you can get to more explanation of what is shown that way. If I was doing this I would run the PS off a belt driven pump so it would not take away flow from the live engine pump for other hydraulic functions. I did run across the attached IH manual for PS on these models for sale on eBay., see attached.
