How many f12 tractors were made and why were the f14s only made for a short time?I have a 1938 f12, I'm trying to get running after 8 year rest. I love these old tractors.

Somewhere over 117,000 and could be up to 35,000 more than that if the 38 production was similar to the 36 and 37 production. This assumes the serial numbers of the prior year in the list ran consecutive to the start number of the following year. In others words no numbers were skipped from one year to the next. See link. I cannot help you on the low of production of the 14, but if I had to guess I would say it had a lot to do with the introduction of the H.
F12 serial numbers

From what I have read people were asking for more power in the F12 but with the letter series getting close to production IH didn't want to put a lot of effort into the F12 so a few small changes got them through until the H came out. I have a 38 F14 and didn't know there were 38 F12's. There was an upgrade kit available to make a F12 into a F14.

piles and piles of them made and not for a short time, from 1932-1938. if you had the w-12 those are more of a low production tractor with just over 3000 built and have more collective value.

That wasn't me - I remember the posts but don't remember who it was with the problem. Mine is working good (knock on wood). Only problem I have had is the diaphragm going bad a couple of times.

Looking at the detailed production sheet and including the early pre-production tractors it looks like:

123,441 F12 tractors built (FS 501 to FS 123942)

31,401 F14 tractors built (FS 124000 to FS 155401)

FS 155402 to FS 155902 were assigned to Field Changeover packages for F12 into F14.

It appears that serial numbers FS 143943 to FS 123999 were not used.

I went through the carburetor and everything was clean and the float is good. The fuel pump seems to be in good shape. Not sure what the settings are on the carb. All I have to do now is start cranking, to see if the bowl fills with gas.I will let you know how it goes. ALL OF YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN GREAT.
