Replaced carb, coil, points, condenser, wiring on an H-ran ok before, a little rough. Had a 12 V distributor with resistor--resistor got detached--stopped running. Think I burned out the condenser when I reversed polarity while replacing stuff. Everything is set right, I think, but no spark. What kind of condenser does it use, or can I use just any old condenser without buying a whole tune-up kit ?

George make sure you are getting juice to the coil.

...and if you find any, wipe it off and check for voltage {;-)

I replaced points and condensor once and my H would not run. Checked everything twice and could not figure it out. Pulled the condensor and looked at it and noticed the forked connector on the end of the wire was long. That was it. When seated against the set screw in the distributor the long forks grounded out. Cut the fork short and it ran great. Look for grounded components.

I got a bad condenser in a tune up kit one time for a Ford truck. Liked to have drove me crazy tracking the problem down. After discussing the issue among the other "experts" around here we have decided to leave a working condenser alone, just change bad points (or better yet, go with electronic ignition).

I don't know what you reversed polarity on when replacing things, but the resistor is not polarized. Try placing a jumper across the resistor and see if it runs. The value of the condensor is not critical, if you suspect yours is bad, you can substitute a known good one that will physically fit to see if that helps. Since you replaced all those things at one time, check out all your connections and wiring to be sure they are all tight and not grounded.
