Plumbing Lift All Cylinders

I just bought a nice 8'6 No. 37 disc for my Super H. This disc has the dual lift all cylinder adaptor package. How would IH have plumbed it? Would the two cylinders be tied together, or would they have run two hoses, one from each side of the belly pump like a front mount cultivator. My SH has a Christmas tree valve, so I am thinking they should be tied together, and plumed into the left side of the tractor. Thoughts? I am trying to do this as original as posible.
Thanks!

They are single acting and must be treated as such. they need one hose so they work simultaneously. The supply should be single acting. Jim

If you have a Christmas tree valve , it it already double acting. I never saw that thing you have pictured, but if you have 2 hoses out the back, just hook up a double acting cylinder. If you want to go back to single acting for different implements, run a third hose back along the left side of the tractor and plug in the single acting cylinders on the left side, double acting on the right side. You can gravity drop through the Christmas tree valve but you have to operate more levers that way. To go single acting on the left side, you need a ball valve in the pressure line going to the Christmas tree valve. Be gentle tightening the hoses in that valve, not much meat there and it will crack.

I misunderstood what you wanted to do. But the fact remains that if you want pressure out the left side, you must block the flow through the Christmas tree valve.

Seems many completely missed the point.

If these are the original style "liftall" cylinders, most likely they would have run a separate hose from each output on the tractor to a cylinder, same as for a cultivator. The cylinders would stay with the tractor, not the implement, so you would not want to keep disconnecting them and having to change hoses around. Just leave them connected permanently, one to the left and one to the right.

You will need to disconnect the Christmas tree valve from the belly pump in order to do this.

Of course there are many ways to skin a cat. You can tie them together with a tee and run them off the Christmas tree valve. There will be some squealing of the pressure relief valve as you lower the disc because you're trying to run a one-way cylinder on a two-way valve, but if the disc lowers fairly quickly, it won't hurt anything. You could also push the clutch to stop the belly pump and lower the disc, avoiding the relief valve.

Oh another way to skin the cat...

Your Christmas tree valve has a latch on it that allows you to lock it into position. Unlock the main belly pump control and let it go to neutral, then latch the Christmas tree valve so it is always on. Figure out which line is pressurized when the valve is latched on and connect your one-way disc cylinders to that. Then use the belly pump control to lift and lower the disc.

The Christmas tree valve should have a latch on it for just that purpose, so yet another way to skin the cat...

Just make sure to unlock the belly pump control and let it go to neutral before you latch the Christmas tree valve. Then connect your one way cylinders to the left output on the tractor, and use the main belly pump control to lift and lower.

This compound cylinder stays on the disc. One hose to both would be fine using a standard coupling at the tractor as a remote. semi mounted mowers
and plows were like that. The disc was heavy. Standardizing the leathers and likely the rams made farmers happy. Jim

Thanks all- I will post some pictures when I get it set up. I thought the double lift all lift was kind of unique and worth keeping!
