Throttle lever releases out of high idle to half idle position. Happens when you not paying attention to lever at high idle loading . Drops out when
needed . Ordered new spring ,from Steiner but I not confident it will cure the problem .
Any other cures

A fiber friction washer in the lever assembly can be glazed, or thin and hard with little friction. a new spring can make it work, along with roughing up the surfaces, or replacing the disc. Jim

The wedge on the lever probably has a slot worn in it. Braze it up file it to shape.

Mowed yesterday , changed sickle bar and Pittman ,I forgot to bring the spring for the C ugh.Seems like the controlled always trips out when you need it most . Also think in the turns the control column is flexible under force of turn make it release ,cause happen mostly in turns

The most important aspect is using a triangle file to re contour the teeth in the rack, and lever. A large bulldog paper binder will temporarily hold it in, as will a bungy tied pulling it. Jim

Do you have a battery box on it? A batt. box has six bolts two of which at the top rear are the structure that supports the light/control tower. Also look at you right side gas tank mounting bolt, it should have two L shaped pieces of metal that are just far enough apart to support the throttle rod.

I was mowing with the C today ,throttle would not stay put , put it up and would immediately drop back . So I headed up to the shed got a few tools found the the new spring ihs 541 from Steiner.
Put the spring on and it stay put where I set it . Yahoo !
