806 Farmall Shifting

Everyone,

I have an 806 that grinds and doesn't go into high range. it does go into reverse, but seems to be all the way out of adjustment.
What else is there we need to do??
Can anyone walk me through the process of repair? Does it need to be split or just top taken off?
Let me know

No pictures nor video. Was working on mine before all that stuff was around. When you pull the lid off there is a roller on the pin to the high low fork be careful not to loos it inside. IF you do you will be looking for it so it doesn't get in a gear. If you do drop it in you might with the oil drained beable to fish it out with a magnet from the reverse cover on the left side behind the step. It is a rectangle shaped cover with the corner clipped off of it. Removal of the range lid is pretty self explanatory once you see it. There is a pin just above the transmission on the right side that can break causing it to not shift. And then the cam roll pin inside and the linkage up under the cowl like piece in front of the steering wheel.

Well, it is not the linkages on the outside of the transmission. Will be pulling the lid and looking this weekend. Hope it is not a gear, as it seems to get close then just grinds and I had the linkage pried all the way back on the outside. Has anyone had bad gears before? or if I replace pins, and sloppy connections solve the problem?

Well it's time to clean off the lid after you check all the pins through the vertical shafts and the linkage for looseness. Then with lid removed check for slop in the bushing going through the top of the lid. And all other points of looseness. Watch those rollers on the pins don't fall in when you remove the lid. There is a row of bolts around it and the park brake needs to be held up after disconnection. If the bushing through the lid is loose which it will be you have 2 choices 1 bore the lid and rebush. 2 a new lid.

Has it jumped out of reverse yet,Its not to serious,Take the top cover off between the clutch and brake pedals ,Blow the dust and and crap off that cover and remove,There is a cam and roller mechanism in there, I had sheared the roll pin off that controls the forward reverse mechanism. So do u have a IHC dealer you might need a new roller or something, it will show some wear, My 806 has a cab on it,i got tired of standing on the step, bending over, but mine hasn't bothered for almost 40 years now !!!!
