Corn planter parts

I was wondering if Case still has parts for the model 56 corn planter. I tried looking up the model number on Messicks site but couldn't get the corn planter to come up. I've seen a couple listed cheap as parts coming up. They look like they could be useable but can't tell with out a visit and the fertilizer parts are the big mystery. I know they have been around a long time but a lot less time than the planter I currently have which needs a rope to raise the markers. Planter I have works but lifting the markers is a pain and since I only plant 3-4 acres a year can't justify big bucks on another planter just to get markers that lift when the planter is raised.

I had a 58 planter, you'rs is hyd lift right,so when u lift the planter the hyd lift the planter and markers, the chain goes thru and around the corners, and the rope should just trip it, if i remember right !!

I'm not sure what model I currently have but its a trip lift - pull the rope to raise and again to lower. The only connection to the markers is a rope between them running up to the seat. Pull one up and the other falls. You have to hold it half way until you've made the turn and then finish dropping the next marker. It isn't getting easier at 67 years old.

Ok that was differant then what i had i think, my dad arms, and shoulders always hurt to after a days seeding pulling the drill ropes also, somebdy else will have to chime in and help you!

It's listed under 56 Series. See if the link below works for you. Should take you right to it. Also, for planter parts, I recommend Duffield Equipment. Once you find a part number, search it on that site. If you can't figure out what part or which number goes to what, give them a call. I spoke with Mike on a couple occasions & he is very knowledgeable when it comes to planters & parts.

Thanks for the link - finding things on that site always comes down to exactly what words and numbers to use. Its interesting the parts page doesn't show fertilizer parts. Maybe IH had them under something different. You mentioned Duffield - I just googled model 56 parts last night and that site came up. I've bought other stuff from them before so I know they are good to do business with. There are 3 of these planters for sale within about a 30 minute drive from my house so I guess my next step is to take a look at them. I wasn't going to bother if I couldn't find parts if needed.

You can get creative and put an a cylinder to raise and lower markers. Hooked to a swing arm,it will control both at once. One lowers while the other lowers. Built with scrap from your iron pile, the only cost is a cylinder in you dont already have an extra.I have two such systems. A 6 row and 4 row. Both work as well as expencive 'storebought' markers. Will get a pic later.

A picture would be great. I've thought about something like that and could probably find pieces around here to build it but I'm bad at designing stuff.
