In my travels, I found an F14 sitting in the weeds. I did a quick walk around; it seemed to be complete although there was no crank and the intake was open to the sky. It must have had some good care earlier in its career because the paint was pretty good and looked original. Iron on rear, rubber on front (narrow). I'm kinda new at this and still haven't been able to contact the owner. Any suggestions on what to make for a starting offer and how high to go if that doesn't work?

If it's not running, $100. If it runs, and has decent compression and no obvious problems, perhaps as much as $300-$500.

Unless you have a particular attraction to steel wheels, they are a major PITA. The ride will liquefy your kidneys, you can't take it on the road (therefore, no parades) they tear up the lawn, and traction is not great. You'll likely want to change to rubber, which adds to the expense of "restoring" the tractor. Also, a transmission geared for steel will make an already painfully slow tractor even slower.

Having said that, I blew $4300 rebuilding one on rubber (Nearly $3000 of that on a total engine overhaul. Only thing original is the crank, cam, oil pump, carb, governor and a few miscellaneous nuts and bolts.) And I'd do it again. Most fun you can have with your clothes on...

I looked around here N. E. IL. when I got my dads
f-14 after he passed away a couple years ago. Just
to see what it was worth and it wasn't much. around here they go for around 800 bucks in good shape. I bought a basket case last year with a mounted plow for 50 bucks. there are quite a few
f-12 and f-14 out there. But if you pick something just a few years newer you can have electric start
and hydraulics. If you really want this tractor, A
little advise, find out who owns it and talk to the person before you go check it out again. I could be wrong but if you get caught on someone
elses property without permission you could ruin any chance you have of ever owning that tractor.
