MD fuel pressure question

I went and looked at an MD for sale...its been sitting outside for a while, not being used much. It fired right up on the gas side and also fired instantly on diesel. Not a lot of smoke, no bad noises. When revved up it didnt come out of the red on the fuel pressure gauge. It also seemed to be starving for fuel at much over a high idle. The owner said he thought it needed a filter change...Im wondering if the pump needs a rebuild? He claims it was rebuilt 10 years ago...had a newish gauge on it.

Any thoughts? Whats approx value? Cosmetically rough...old flaking repaint...straight tin

Starting and switchover as clean as you witnessed is a strong indicator of an above average MD (mechanically). The fuel pressure is charge pressure, not
injection pressure, so the issue is supply side to the injection plunger. Possible issues include a plugged tank outlet, sediment bowl, fuel lines, filters, and
the transfer pump. Jim

It was also about 40 degrees out. That's good news. Do you think its worth 2 times a typical M in similar condition?

Thoughts:
Yes if you desire the unique aspects of the ownership of a "different" M
Yes if you want to do the repairs (minor it seems) to make it run correctly and clean it up to knowing it can't be sold for the investment
No if you want to make it a work tractor (too many easier to operate more modern "live power" tractors for less)
No if you putting that extra money limited the chances for care and upkeep
This assumes the 2X price is at 2000, not more.

The filters probably need changing. Beyond that the fuel tank and fuel supply lines may need to be
cleaned. With low fuel pressure like that it will not have any power to pull a load.

holy smokers! i have a nice original one i would be happy to get 2k. nothing is selling nowadays.

definitly not twice , have to see it ... but 2k is a good figure. engine parts are obsolete and expensive.
