Hello-

Got a used Farmall 300 cylinder head from a junkyard to replace my cracked head. Just got it back this week from the machine shop, so it is ready to go back onto the engine. Had a few questions about the head studs.

1. Can anyone verify on a Farmall 300 C169 engine that only 1 stud is longer for the sleeved hole in head? Seems I am reading about up to 5 studs are longer for use of thick washer over sleeved stud holes in head.

2. On my 300 head, it appears that there is only 1 sleeved hole that will need a washer, and it is in the center of the head? Parts book only shows 1 stud being longer and 15 short ones, is this correct?
When I took my head apart, there were no washers on any of the studs, including the sleeved hole. The sleeved hole was where the crack was also, top and bottom. Thanks for any help, this forum has been a big help!

One long stud and thick washer used. Sometimes they have 2 long ones and if I remember correct it was for a utility bracket. Also other long ones were used on a utility LP tractor.
