I am trying to put a 64 cub back together. Having trouble with wiring even though I have several diagrams. First picture shows the cable going to starter. there are two other wires in that cable that i though went to the voltage reg. second picture shows the light cable with a gray and green wire that according to one diagram go to the regulator. the third picture show two additional wires near the front of cable that i dont know where they go. any help or a decent 64 diagram would be great.

I assume you are dealing with the 6-volt system as your switch is on the starter. I don't see a third picture.

The wires in your second picture connect to the regulator (gray BAT to ammeter, green L to ignition switch). You have the wrong wires going to the starter. It should be a brown wire. In fact, your bundle at the starter looks like the rear light cable. The pink wires are grounds. Wires at the front of the harness (heading out of frame in the second picture) split two ways and go to the headlights.

This is all in the Owners Manual.
